WHISP ADULT SERVICE
What is WHISP?
WHISP (WRESACARE Home Individual Support Program) is an in-home respite care program auspiced by WRESACARE and funded by the State Government.
WHISP Adult Program.
The program provides up to 180 hours of respite care a year for each client/family.
Who can use the program?
The service is available to carers of adults (18-65 years) who have a disability, and live in K Greater Dandenong, Casey, Cardinia, Frankston and Mornington Peninsula. The disability may be intellectual, sensory, physical or an acquired brain injury. The client must live at home with the carer.
What is the cost?
The cost of the program is based on the Home and Community Care Fee Guidelines, and is currently a minimum of $2.00 per hour.
How do you apply?
A client, carer or any other person may make a referral to the program by writing or telephoning the Respite Manager.
How soon will I be offered a service?
The program has a waiting list of clients and places that are allocated according to need, not according to the length of time you have been on the waiting list.
What can the hours be used for?
The hours can be used at any time to meet the needs of the client and carer.
These may include access to recreational and sporting activities, learning new skills or social outings. It may also involve the worker staying at home with the client whilst the carer is absent from home. This may involve overnight care.

WRESACARE is a community-managed not for profit organisation that is controlled by a Committee of Management, made up of clients, parents and interested community members. WRESACARE conducts a number of programs that are of interest to clients and carers. These include weekend camps, holiday programs, social groups etc.

Who can use the program?
The service is available to carers of children and youths (up to 18 years) who have a disability, and live in Greater Dandenong, Casey, Cardinia, Frankston and Mornington Peninsula. The disability may be intellectual, sensory, physical or an acquired brain injury. The client must live at home with the carer.

The service is available to carers of the frail aged, or of children or adults who have a disability, and live in Greater Dandenong, Casey, and Cardinia. Either the carer or the client must be aged 65+. The client must live at home with the carer.
What is the cost?
The cost of the program is based on the Home and Community Care Fee Guidelines, and is currently a minimum of $2.00 per hour.
How do you apply?
