ProgramsValerie May HouseFacility Respite Care for ChildrenCamms Road, CranbourneThis is a five-bed facility for respite care. Children stay here for a temporary period of time whilst their parents take a break from the tasks of caring for children with a disability. The house is staffed for the full period of the child's stay, and is fully equipped to be able to deal with most conditions. It is fully heated/air-conditioned, and has an extensive outdoor play area with sensory garden and water-wall. Inside the house an atmosphere of controlled fun is encouraged, with several weekends being designated "Theme Weekends", giving opportunity for not only in-house fun activities, but interation with the local community too. The objective for the house is that the kids have so much fun being there, that they want to come back over and over again. The children who attend refer to it as their "Holiday House".
